Public & Private Hire Motor Insurance Cover Available:
Third Party Only
This is the minimum cover required by law and under this section we shall cover you for costs and expenses you are legally liable to pay for death or injury to any person or damage to their property. Persons covered are:
- You the policyholder
- Any person named on the certificate driving with your permission
- Any passenger travelling in or getting into or out of your vehicle
Third Party Fire and Theft
This cover provides for loss of or damage to your vehicle caused by Fire, lightning or explosion, theft or attempted theft. The cover is usually subject to an excess but is provided in addition to the third party cover described above.
Comprehensive
This cover if sometimes referred to as accidental damage and provides for accidental damage to your vehicle. This cover operates in addition to third party cover and fire & theft and again is usually subject to an excess.
Public Liability
While your motor policy will provide for liability to third parties for death injury or damage to their property, the cover is restricted to your activities surrounding the motor vehicle. Public liability cover generally stops at the edge of the carriageway. To extend this cover we can provide policies that cover your business activities beyond the carriageway for instance the delivery of children to school or the carriage of customer’s luggage and personal effects to and from your vehicle. Some local authorities insist upon this cover that can be provided at reasonable cost.
Employer’s Liability
This type of policy provides for cover up to £10 million for claims made by your employees against you for injury and illness arising out of their employment with you.
Legal Expenses cover
These policies give you access to funds that will provide you with legal assistance to pursue your legal rights against negligent third parties. Depending upon your circumstances they can seek damages for death or injury to you or your passengers. They can also help recover repair costs and excesses as well as providing a replacement vehicle or your claim for loss of earnings. The cost of these covers is usually very reasonable and they are an essential part of your cover.
Personal Accident Cover
Personal accident insurance provides cover following accidental bodily injury. This cover can be tailored to meet the customers needs, in most cases a lump sum payment provides valuable protection in the event of permanent disablement. Cover can also include a weekly benefit following permanent or temporary disablement. A proportion of the customer’s income is paid for a fixed period usually 104 weeks. Cover can also be included for disablement due to illness. The maximum period of payment is usually 52 weeks.
